Roles

All partners find working with YCC a rewarding experience:
  • Schools: The enthusiasm of schools is crucial to a successful project, and many teachers find that working with YCC can enhance and even transform their approach to the curriculum
  • Authors and artists: Meeting and working with a real author or artist can be a life-changing experience for young people and can also give other partners a new perspective
  • Galleries, archives and other inspirational settings: They are in the unique position of being able to open up the treasures they work with to a new and receptive audience
  • Libraries: Librarians can inspire and help young people to read more widely and locate and enjoy the resources available
  • Publishers and cultural organisations: They can provide invaluable support and also learn more about their young audience

All partners need to take part in planning a project and should take equal ownership in its operation and success.

Each project needs one partner to take on the role of co-ordinator. This is usually the school, the inspirational venue or the library.

If you are considering running your own YCC project, more detailed information on the tasks that are involved in these roles is available from the Project Consultant, Tricia Kings.
