QUOTE: 'The writer starts with vision and ends with words. The reader begins with words and ends with vision. The reader uses the writer's words in order to see.' Elliot Eisner, 'The Role of the Arts in Cognition and Curriculum'. IMAGE: A YCC library workshop with poet Michael Rosen

Stories and art provide us with powerful tools that can help us understand and engage with the world in new, exciting and creative ways.

By helping young people to make use of these tools, Young Cultural Creators aims to enhance their opportunities for personal, academic and social development.

The experience of visiting a gallery, museum or archive to share an exploration of art and story with a children’s author is a magical journey.

Follow-up in the library and classroom allows the children to develop their own work with confident and creative self-expression.

Every Young Cultural Creators project is a unique experience. Each group of young people, each school, library, author, museum, archives centre or gallery makes their own distinctive contribution.

Each individual will, through the subjective experience of interacting with art and story, as well as with new and stimulating people, gain something different and special.
