In this section we are showing a small selection of work done by children taking part in YCC projects. Every few months we shall show a different selection.

Poems inspired by Keats' House Museum
These are some of the poems written by children from Christchurch School in Brent who visited the house and garden in Hampstead where the poet John Keats lived and learned something about Keats' life and his poetry.
In a workshop with poet Roger Stevens, and then back at school and in the library, they wrote their own poetry, describing their perceptions of Keats and his home, and also exploring the themes of loss, death and friendship.

Ballads inspired by the National Archives
Children from St Paul 's School in Kingston and Holy Trinity School in Richmond joined in a role-playing workshop at the National Archives, about life in Newgate Gaol. They each played a character based on their research in the Archives and at the library and school, and inspired too by reading the 18th century murder mystery 'Death and the Arrow' by Chris Priestley.

Here are just a few of the ballads they wrote with Chris, about the life of their characters, and based on an original ballad about a prisoner in Newgate in the 18th century.
