MLA London, the council for Museums, Libraries and Archives, is supporting SeaBritain 2005 through the provision of this special YCC SeaBritain online section, with ideas and resources for library, museum and archives partnerships in SeaBritain activity.
SeaBritain 2005 is a national maritime celebration on a grand scale. With events throughout 2005 and beyond it celebrates the ways in which the sea touches all of our lives. Whether you live in a coastal town, the most landlocked part of the country, or somewhere in-between – everyone can get involved. At its heart is the Trafalgar Festival 2005 , year-round celebrations of Nelson's finest and last hour, encompassing the Trafalgar Weekend of 21–23 October 2005. SeaBritain 2005 is an initiative of the National Maritime Museum , working in close partnership with VisitBritain, Sea Vision UK and the Official Nelson Commemorations Committee. To find out more about SeaBritain partners and events, visit the SeaBritain 2005 website. Look too at the Resources section of this site for links to many regional events.

Young Cultural Creators is an exciting way in which libraries, museums, archives, galleries and other inspirational venues can partner to celebrate SeaBritain in activities with young people. On this site you will find ideas and templates for activities based on SeaBritain themes to inspire young people's reading and creativity. These activities can be with all kinds of groupings of young people including school classes, library reading groups, families joining in activities in libraries, museums, archives and galleries, sessions with young people with special needs.
There are ideas too for developing YCC activities to link in with the national Summer Reading Challenge in libraries – The Reading Voyage. Have a look first at:
